Jessie “DJ Nebraska” Davis is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, DJ, activist, and educator who brings magic both to the stage and the screen. Jessie was raised as a classical pianist in Salt Lake City, UT. Later she migrated to Atlanta, GA where she honed her skills in jazz r&b, hip hop, and gospel music. Davis has now been living in NYC and immersing herself in the music and art scene since 2011. She has become a staple of the NYC underground; holding down residencies as co host of Freestyle Mondays, house musician and vocalist for LayeRhythm, musical director and composer for Midnight Radio Show, resident DJ at Pianos, artist in residency at Rockwood Music Hall and more. She has developed events including Wildcard Tuesdays, Fever, The Vault, and The Nebraska Jones Experiment, which feature her many talents, and provide a platform for other artists to develop their craft.
A chameleon of a performing artist, Jessie taps into her multi-faceted skill set to deliver a unique sonic and visual experience. In front of your eyes she spins an intricate web of loops, beats, and harmonies to create luscious grooves under which she delivers her powerful melodies. She has toured extensively throughout the US, Latin America, and Europe with her multidimensional live performance. Most recently, Davis was selected as a US Cultural Ambassador to travel to developing countries and offer workshops in DJing, music production, songwriting, conflict transformation, and entrepreneurship.
Beyond blessing stages and empowering fellow artists, Jessie Davis is currently in the studio finishing production on her fourth recording project, “Notes from the Road.” On a quest to find healing and self love after an abusive relationship, Davis began making artistic retreats around the world for one month at a time, writing a song a day. This catalogue reflects her journey through Paris, Havana, and Lisbon, and inspired the album, which explores heart break, recovery, and self actualization. Breaking away from her first 3 releases, Davis is self-producing “Notes from the Road.” Experimenting with different sonic landscapes and flexing a new artistic muscle for her audience to enjoy. Davis made her directorial debut in creating the music video for
“Oh Darlin,” the debut single from “Notes from the Road.” This musical powerhouse is a force to be reckoned with. Her interactive performance will captivate you and take you on a journey through space and time.
